STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (SAC)

MISSION
In support of the school vision, the St. Thomas More Catholic School Advisory Council, as the representative body of the parish and school communities, advises and consults with the pastor and principal regarding policy, finance, and strategic planning.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
  1. Upon request, the council will advise the pastor or principal on administrative issues.
  2. In areas of finance, the council will be responsible to the pastor for the financial aspects of the school’s operation, including budgeting, monitoring of expenditures, and financial planning.
  3. In the area of finance, the council will be responsible to the pastor for overseeing the financial aspects of the school's operations, including budgeting, monitoring expenditures, and planning finances.
  4. The council will develop a long‑term strategic plan for the school.
  5. The council will provide a forum for the school community, offering opportunities for input, and will assist in disseminating information on policy issues.

Policy recommendations can be initiated by the principal, pastor, or school advisory council members. Parents can call the council’s attention to policy issues in several ways. A specific amount of time is designated during the meeting for visitors to raise policy issues that may be considered at future meetings. Items for consideration on the agenda must be submitted in writing to the chairperson at least ten days before the meeting. As elected officials, school council members are responsive to the concerns of their constituency, and input into particular policy decisions may be directed to them individually. The School Council meets at 6:30 P.M. in the Parish Hall on the third Tuesday of each month, and visitors are welcome.

PARENT TEACHER ORGANIZATION (PTO)

ABOUT
One of the most important components of a good school is the partnership between the school and parents who work together for the best interest of children. The close partnership between home and school is one of the exceptional strengths at St. Thomas More Catholic School. We have a strong tradition of supportive and hard-working parents. Throughout the year, parents have the opportunity to develop that partnership in a wide variety of ways. Parents join the PTO, volunteer in the classroom, help during fundraisers, attend School Advisory Council meetings, read to their children each night, and help in many other ways. It is important to your child that you are involved in some way at school. It’s a way to let your child know you think his or her school is important.

MISSION
St. Thomas More Catholic School focuses on nurturing students spiritually and academically based on Gospel values. Together with the school team, the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) promotes parental involvement in school activities, ensuring a rich learning experience for students. Through its fundraising efforts, the PTO enhances curriculum, instruction, and educates parents in various ways.
